Home Office plans more military sites for asylum seekers
The administration intends to relocate thousands of asylum seekers from hotels to three novel military facilities, assuming planning permission is secured. This comes as 20 more hotels have already stopped housing asylum seekers, reducing the total in use to 170. The Home Office spent £2.1 billion on hotels in 2024-2025, and £3 billion the year before.
