Pound gains against dollar and euro after Burnham win, sales rise

People using money from abroad may have seen a stronger pound as it gained against both the dollar and the euro after political and economic updates in Britain. On Friday, traders reacted to Andy Burnham's by-election success and fresh figures on shopping activity. Sterling reached $1.3238, while sales volumes in May increased 1.2%, above forecasts of a 0.5% rise.
