Jack Dee explains Rick Spleen's 'loser' character
Many people found the British show Lead Balloon relatable for its depiction of a comedian struggling in his private life. Jack Dee created and played Rick Spleen, developing the character with Pete Sinclair after a BBC4 pilot, making Spleen a 'what-if' version of Dee. Raquel Cassidy, who played Rick's wife Mel, recalled the programme ran for four series.
