Starmer to apologise for forced adoptions in UK

This apology from the British state follows years of campaigning by mothers and adoptees who were pressured into giving up their babies. In England and Wales, an estimated 185,000 infants were removed from their unmarried mothers during the period spanning the 1950s to the 1970s. The government was urged in March by a parliamentary inquiry to issue a prompt apology for its involvement in this "shameful period."
