City Hall to build 7,000 new London homes
London's City Hall will directly develop homes for the first time, a big shift for the capital's housing inspired by Singapore. Mayor Sadiq Khan announced a £100m investment into the Silvertown Partnership for 7,000 homes in east London's Royal Docks. Around 30% of these new homes will be affordable, with 1,000 expected under construction by 2028.
