Birmingham parcel fire linked to Russian intelligence
Russian military intelligence is believed to be behind multiple 'self-igniting' parcel fires in Europe, with one occurring at a Birmingham DHL depot in July 2024. Four such parcels originated from Lithuania in July 2024; one exploded in Poland, and another caught fire at Leipzig airport. Twenty-two suspects, recruited online and paid with cryptocurrency, were located in Lithuania and Poland, with two now facing trial.
