China, by contrast, wields leverage through rare-earth dominance critical to batteries, chips, and electric vehicles. Influenced by thinkers like René Girard, US elites linked to Peter Thiel and JD Vance view scapegoating as a stabilising political tool. India lacks comparable coercive leverage, making it an easier symbolic target amid economic strain, rising costs, and global power realignment.
