Whitbread cutting 3,800 jobs, changing 197 restaurants

Thousands of workers at Premier Inn owner Whitbread could lose their jobs. The company aims to cut about 3,800 roles in the UK and Ireland under a new five-year plan. Its 197 branded restaurants, including Beefeater, will be replaced by hotel-based dining, with some becoming 600 new hotel rooms.
