Philip Young, 49, a former Conservative councillor from Swindon now living in Enfield, appeared in court charged with 56 sexual offences against his ex-wife Joanne Young over a 13-year period from 2010 to 2023. The charges include multiple counts of rape, administering substances with intent to stupefy, and possession of indecent images of children. Five other men are also charged with sexual offences against the victim, who has waived her anonymity. Young was remanded in custody to appear at Swindon Crown Court in January 2026.
