US offers Ukraine security guarantees in peace talks
The United States has offered Ukraine Article 5-style security guarantees as an alternative to NATO membership during Berlin peace talks. Ukrainian President Zelensky agreed to drop NATO aspirations in exchange for legally binding Western security commitments similar to NATO's collective defense clause.
