Sitting for too long without breaks may raise cancer death risk

Sitting for too long without breaks may raise cancer death risk

A study of more than 91,000 adults followed for over 12 years found that each extra hour of uninterrupted sitting was linked to a 9% higher risk of dying from cancer. Replacing one hour of sitting with light activity, such as walking, reduced the risk by 12%. Researchers say regularly breaking up long sitting periods may also lower the risk of common cancers and other health problems.
