160,000 uninsured cars taken off UK roads last year
Uninsured driving remains a significant problem on UK roads, with the cost of vehicle cover being a main reason people break the law. Police seized nearly 160,000 uninsured cars last year, reaching the highest number seen in 17 years. The Motor Insurers' Bureau estimates around 300,000 vehicles are driven daily without insurance, a number up nearly 20% in five years.
