China investigates emergency management minister in corruption crackdown
Beijing’s anti-corruption agency has launched an investigation into Wang Xiangxi, the current Minister of Emergency Management, for suspected serious disciplinary and legal violations. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced the probe on Saturday without providing specific details. This development marks a significant escalation in President Xi Jinping’s long-running graft crackdown, as inquiries involving sitting cabinet ministers remain relatively uncommon in the Chinese political system.
