Iranians divided after Khamenei’s death as conflict death toll passes 1,000
People across Iran have voiced divided reactions after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a week of escalating conflict. The Human Rights Activists News Agency reported that more than 1,000 civilians, including nearly 200 children, have been killed. While some citizens hope the turmoil could bring an end to the 47-year rule of the Islamic Republic, others remain fearful and question the purpose of the fighting. Authorities in Tehran also warned residents about possible internet restrictions.
