Qatar downs Iranian jets, a first in Gulf conflict
Qatar's Ministry of Defense confirmed on March 2, 2026, that its Emiri Air Force shot down two Iranian Su-24 Fencer attack jets approaching from Iran, marking the first time any country has downed Iranian aircraft in the current conflict. Qatari forces also intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones targeting multiple locations across the country. All threats were neutralized before reaching their intended targets. The ministry urged citizens to remain calm and rely only on official information channels.
