Apple courts blacklisted Chinese chipmakers for memory
Squeezed by soaring memory prices, Apple is turning to suppliers on a Pentagon blacklist, a politically risky move in Washington. Bloomberg reported on Wednesday that Apple is in talks with China's CXMT and YMTC to supply memory for devices sold in China. No approval is legally required, but Tim Cook has lobbied officials for a green light, and some in the administration object.
