US warns EU over budget preference for European-made defence goods
The US has warned the EU of retaliatory measures should it maintain its preferential treatment for European-manufactured products within its budget. The EU is discussing a €402 billion fund for competitiveness (2028-2034) that favours EU production, especially in defence. The US says it would review “Buy American” waivers for 19 EU countries if this preference expands.
