US Military Strikes ISIS Targets in Syria After Deadly Attack

Following a deadly ISIS attack that killed two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter in Palmyra on December 13, 2025, the US military, with support from partner forces including Jordan, launched retaliatory strikes against ISIS targets in Syria. Operation Hawkeye Strike involved over 90 precision munitions hitting more than 35 targets with the use of over 20 aircraft. The strikes aimed to degrade ISIS capabilities and deter future attacks against US personnel in the region. At least five ISIS members were killed in the operation.
