US and Israel cited two main reasons for attacking Iran
Officials from the US and Israel put forward two primary justifications for launching Operation Epic Fury on 28 February: the need to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, and claims they were responding to potential preemptive attacks by Iran on regional forces. However, the UN's nuclear watchdog told CNN that Iran was not days or weeks away from having atomic weapons. US intelligence also assessed that Iran would not develop an intercontinental ballistic missile until 2035 at the earliest.
