United Flight Makes Emergency Return to LAX After Engine Trouble

A United Airlines passenger jet bound for Newark made an emergency return to Los Angeles International Airport after reports of a possible engine fire shortly after takeoff Monday morning. The Boeing 787-9, carrying more than 250 people, landed safely and everyone was evacuated with no injuries, officials said. Fire crews monitored the affected engine and passengers were taken back to the terminal. United said it’s assisting customers and working to get them to their final destinations.
