UN warns US-Israel strikes risk 'uncontrollable chain of events'
The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on Saturday 28 February after the United States and Israel launched major military strikes across Iran. France was the first Council member to call for the session, with Russia and China also requesting it. The meeting was chaired by Britain, which holds the monthly Council presidency. UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned both the US-Israeli strikes and Iran's retaliatory attacks, warning the action risks igniting a chain of events that nobody can control.
