Ukraine demands 20-year US security guarantee before peace deal
Ukraine’s president has said Kiev will not agree to a peace settlement with Russia unless Washington commits to legally binding security guarantees lasting at least 20 years, a longer term than the 15-year offer currently on the table. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also pressed for a clear European Union membership timeline while criticising limited European involvement in talks. Further negotiations with the US and Russia are due next week.
