UK to create new national police force
A new National Police Service (NPS), dubbed the 'British FBI,' will be established to combat serious crime and assist local police forces with everyday offenses. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated the NPS aims to create a new policing model for England and Wales by taking over counter-terror, fraud, and organized crime investigations. The NPS will roll out technology like facial recognition to all local forces, freeing them to focus on local crime. Other reforms include cutting the number of police forces and licensing all police officers.
