UK spends £100m on CO2 plant for Iran war

The UK government is investing up to £100m to reopen the mothballed Ensus CO2 plant on Teesside, approved by Business Secretary Peter Kyle. The plant shut last year after a US-UK trade deal undercut its main product, bioethanol. Its restart initially for three months is a contingency measure against CO2 supply disruptions caused by the Iran war.
