UK regulator proposes sweeping reforms of veterinary market
The UK’s Competition & Markets Authority has put forward sweeping reforms for veterinary services after uncovering opaque pricing and unfair practices. The CMA says pet owners often lack clear cost information, especially regarding medicines, and reforms could save consumers hundreds of pounds annually. The proposals include mandated transparency, regulated fees for treatments, and oversight of veterinary chains. The plan is now open for public consultation.
