UK Navy stopped Russian subs surveying undersea cables

The UK and Norway led a month-long military operation to track three Russian submarines suspected of surveying vital undersea cables and pipelines in the North Atlantic. A Royal Navy warship, RAF P-8 aircraft and around 500 personnel monitored the vessels until they retreated. Defence Secretary John Healey announced the operation, warning Russia that any attempt to damage infrastructure would have serious consequences.
