UK heatwave: walk dogs early, avoid hot pavements

Dogs face serious heatstroke risk as UK temperatures could hit 33C during the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. The British Veterinary Association recommends that pet owners exercise their animals during the cooler parts of the morning or evening, staying clear of the day's peak temperatures. Pavements over 24 degrees Celsius can scorch their paws, and dogs struggle to cool down quickly, primarily cooling through panting rather than sweating across their body like humans.
