Volkswagen is recalling thousands of its electric cars, including models in the UK, because faulty batteries could potentially cause fires. The carmaker says production faults at suppliers are to blame for the defective battery cells, which could lead to increased thermal stress. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and advised to charge their cars to a maximum of 80% until checks are completed.
