UK defines anti-Muslim hatred; Sikh group raises equality concerns
The UK government has formally adopted a definition of anti-Muslim hatred, drawing broad welcome from Muslim organisations including the Association of Muslim Schools. Nearly half of all religiously motivated hate crimes in the UK target Muslims, according to Imam Qari Asim of Makkah Mosque in Leeds. However, the Network of Sikh Organisations criticised the move, arguing existing laws already cover all groups equally.
