UK defence spending gets priority as Streeting backs £25bn military rise by 2035
The pledge to hit a new spending target requires pouring more than £25bn into the armed forces within a decade. Wes Streeting, the newly appointed defence secretary, told the Farnborough airshow on Wednesday that the cash will create jobs and rebuild British industry. He also used the event to show off a £15m prototype combat drone built by BAE Systems in Lancashire.
