Ugandan diplomat Olara Otunnu enters the contest to lead the UN
The 75-year-old is the oldest person currently vying to replace Antonio Guterres at the end of the year. Uganda officially submitted his name in a Friday letter, adding a seventh hopeful to the leadership contest. He previously worked as a United Nations official and wants to prioritise ending major global wars while setting up an artificial intelligence watchdog.
