Uber fined $966 million for automated driver suspensions
Uber has been hit with an €825 million ($966 million) fine from the Dutch data protection authority for using automated systems to deactivate driver accounts without adequate notice. The penalty ranks as the second-largest ever issued in connection with Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Uber, whose European headquarters are in the Netherlands, said it strongly disagrees with the decision and will appeal.
