NHS Faces Bone Cement Shortage; Operations Delayed
NHS bosses report some joint surgeries face delays due to a medical cement shortage. Heraeus Medical, the supplier responsible for roughly 75 percent of all bone cement, suspended operations at its primary facility for a two-month period. The NHS uses the product in over 1,000 operations each week. Hospitals are asked to prioritise emergency patients.
