England, Wales schools close early as heat hits 40C.
Dozens of schools across England and Wales are closing or finishing early this week as a rare red weather warning for extreme heat takes effect. Temperatures could reach 38C to 40C in some areas, potentially breaking the June record set in 1976. Transport bosses are also warning against all but essential travel on Wednesday and Thursday.
