UK house prices fall for a third month running

UK house prices fell 0.1% in May according to Halifax, the third monthly drop in a row, leaving the average home at £298,806. Lenders linked the softening to weaker consumer confidence and higher energy costs following the Iran conflict. Savills now expects prices to fall 2% across 2026, with the steepest declines in the least affordable areas.
