Direct Line's £10.6M Fine: Staffing Issues Hid Bad Data

The financial market received incorrect data for some time, affecting reported company strength. The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) penalised UK Insurance Limited (UKI), Direct Line's main underwriter, because its 2023 and 2024 accounts had mistaken balance sheet figures. These errors went undetected because of control problems and staffing issues within its finance team.
