Trump tells British paper US-UK bond is no longer what it was
US President Donald Trump told The Sun newspaper on 3 March 2026 it was 'very sad' to see the relationship with Britain had weakened, his second interview criticising Prime Minister Keir Starmer in two days. Trump was angered that Starmer initially refused to allow the US to use the Diego Garcia air base for strikes on Iran, saying it was something that had probably never happened between the two countries before. Starmer eventually permitted only defensive operations. Starmer told parliament he stood by his decision, stating the government did not believe in regime change from the skies.
