Trump envoy claims Iran boasted of uranium stockpile for 11 nuclear bombs
US special envoy Steve Witkoff revealed on 3 March 2026 that Iranian negotiators told him and Jared Kushner directly, and with what he described as no shame, that Iran controlled 460 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, which they said was enough to make 11 nuclear bombs. Speaking on Fox News, Witkoff said the material could have been brought to weapons-grade within a week to ten days, and that the Iranians were proud to have evaded international oversight protocols. The claim was offered as a key justification for Operation Epic Fury. The IAEA had previously estimated Iran's stockpile was sufficient for around 10 nuclear devices.
