Israel Moves from Defence to Offence on Lebanon Border with 100,000 Reservists Deployed
The Israel Defence Forces declared Monday it has shifted from defensive to offensive operations on its northern border with Lebanon, following Hezbollah's rocket and drone attack on Haifa. IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said strikes would come in "continuous waves." Close to 100,000 reservists have been mobilised and deployed to the northern front. Israel has ordered residents of more than 50 Lebanese villages to evacuate immediately. Lebanon's government held an emergency cabinet meeting but condemned Hezbollah's action as an "irresponsible act."
