The plumber who almost beat Burnham is back

Voters in Makerfield will soon choose a new MP, as a local plumber challenges a prominent mayor. Labour’s Andy Burnham, Greater Manchester’s mayor, is confirmed as a candidate, facing Reform UK’s Robert Kenyon. Kenyon, a plumber, previously came second in the 2024 general election for the constituency, with the byelection expected on 18 June.
