Thames Water investors plan to bring in new bosses to avoid nationalisation
The troubled water supplier owes almost £20bn and recently warned it could completely run out of money before next year. A wealthy consortium of backers hopes its rescue plan will convince ministers not to force the firm into temporary public ownership. If the government agrees, the investors will hire former executives from Yorkshire Water and BT Openreach and block dividend payouts for a decade.
