The Environment Agency has declared severe drought in parts of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, East Sussex and West Sussex after a record-breaking summer. Officials said the South East and South West had their driest April to September in over a century. Environment Secretary Angela Eagle promised more government support, while the agency urged water companies to follow drought plans and everyone to use less water.
