Tariff Shock Leaves Lotus With Half Its British Staff

Lotus has cut its UK workforce by more than half, from about 1,300 to 600, after US tariffs hammered demand in its single biggest market, newly published company accounts show. Sales at the Norfolk-based sports carmaker slumped 71% to 1,539 vehicles in 2025, while annual losses climbed to £263m. The Geely-owned company says it is moving to a leaner model built around actual customer demand.
