Tories promise to end 2030 petrol car ban

The Conservative party, led by Kemi Badenoch, plans to remove the 2030 ban on petrol and diesel car sales if elected. Badenoch called Labour's electric vehicle mandate economically damaging. The original 2020 policy, later adjusted to 2035, requires new cars to be electric or hybrid by 2030. Conservatives claim this change would aid the UK car industry and keep it aligned with global markets.
