The wicket-keeper batsman hit 106 runs, celebrating with a tribute to his late father who died in September. England took eight wickets through Jofra Archer's 3-29 and Will Jacks' two wickets, but Australia recovered from 94-4 to establish a commanding position. Steve Smith was ruled out with illness, allowing Usman Khawaja to return with 82 runs.
