Teachers get 6.6% pay rise, but schools face £460m funding gap

Teachers in England will see their pay go up by 6.6% over two years, but schools must find a chunk of the money themselves. The education secretary accepted the independent review body's recommendation, which was higher than the government first suggested. Education unions are concerned that schools must locate £460m within their existing constrained budgets, a sum equivalent to 8,300 staff positions.
