Summer Channel small boat crossings hit six-year low

The number of small boats detected crossing the English Channel between June and August was the lowest since 2019. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said government action against the crossings is "beginning to bear fruit." However, smuggling gangs are reportedly now putting more migrants onto fewer, larger boats.
