Notting Hill Carnival sees record 636 arrests this year
Police made 636 arrests at this year's Notting Hill Carnival, a new high, and the fourth consecutive year that detentions have risen. Offences included drug and weapon possession, assaults on emergency workers, and sexual offences, with 121 arrests made using live facial recognition technology. The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea projects that the clean-up and personnel costs for the event will reach £1 million.
