Spain's Transport Minister Óscar Puente has resigned six days after a high-speed train ploughed into a stationary train near Urda, south of Madrid, killing at least 69 people. He announced the move in Congress while answering questions about the disaster, saying no minister could stay in office after two serious rail crashes in under a year. He will not stand in Spain's 29 November election.
