South Yorkshire Begins £1.5bn Public Transport Plan
An integrated and budget-friendly public transit system will become available to all residents of South Yorkshire during the forthcoming five-year period. Mayor Oliver Coppard announced the £1.5bn "People's Network" integrating buses, trams, and hire bikes. The bus network is scheduled for franchising and will transition to public management in the upcoming year, mirroring the Supertram, which reverted to public operation in 2024.
